It has to start this way.

The issue of Assembling a New Left is an underlying concern for us all.  The review reveals this book to take into account the current moment when thinking about progressive politics:  social networks, effective decentralized organization in the face of atomization and virtualization, the perils and promises of agency spontaneously but rigorously collectivized in a platform world of precariously engaged independent contractors.

A while ago — can’t remember where or when — I came across a discussion of new forms unions might take in the face of a world of transient, temporary work.  This book seems like a good start towards fleshing some of this out.
