Nick Srnicek is a Lecturer at City, University of London, and author of the book Platform Capitalism, 2017.
I just finished this book, recommended and kindly loaned to me by Cheryl, and I found it to be very a concise, clear and instructive read.
Quoting McKenzie Wark from the book jacket:
‘Platform Capitalism is a high-definition snapshot of our current political
and economic situation. It offers a convincing image of the current stage of capitalist development as a series of variations on the theme of the platform as a means of consolidating or seizing a kind of monopoly control over not only distribution but also production. Srnicek gives good reasons for thnking that the plaform moment in capital accumulaltion might be less all-conquering than it looks.’
Srnicek gave an excellent lecture at Goldsmiths on the subject that is worth
checking out if the book is not readily at hand.
